A hidden curse. A missing grandmother. A young woman’s fight to face the darkness.
For centuries, the elders’ stories warned of ancient tricks and spirits that walked the lands surrounding Eighteen Oaks, an isolated Appalachian town in West Virginia. In this low fantasy novel, Bahiya Raincrow is destined to receive the gifts of Mile Rock — a power wielded by women in her family to command the very fabric of nature.
When mysterious travelers emerge from the forest, the town panics, certain they carry the Narrow, an ancient curse that corrupts everything it touches. With danger closing in, Bahiya must take a desperate journey to find her missing grandmother before the evil spreads.
To save her people, she must defy law and tradition to face a battle that will test her courage, heart, and power.
The Great and the Narrow weaves the suspenseful mood of horror with the storytelling of urban fantasy and folklore.
A Compelling Clash of Cultures
This book has all the hallmarks of a typical fantasy, Octavia Butler style, yet has a magic all of its own due to the well plotted narrative and easy-to-read dialogue of the characters.

Fascinating
Every now and then I find an indy book that really ought to be picked up by a major publisher. This novel is so original, so rich, so full of entrancing imagery and imagination that it truly deserves to be placed in the hands of an editor to get that polish for a great book.

A Unique Story Pulsing with Potential
I haven’t read anything before in the genre of African-American science fiction, as the book description promises, but this book captivated me immediately with its gorgeous cover.
